Troubleshooting Tidelist: common fixes

Updated

Start with the Tidelist log and the Site Health screen of WordPress. They name most problems.

Nothing is sent to OLX

  • Dry-run is on. This is the default. Switch it off in Settings when you are ready.
  • The plugin is paused. Press Resume.
  • The background job system is not available. Batches run through Action Scheduler, which ships with WooCommerce. Check that WooCommerce is active and up to date.
  • WP-Cron does not run. On a site with very little traffic, scheduled tasks can lag. Site Health shows the state of WP-Cron; many hosts offer a real cron job.

Background jobs are late or failed

The Background work box on the Tidelist settings screen shows whether the queue keeps up: when the last job finished, how late the oldest waiting job is, and how many jobs failed. WordPress Site Health shows the same verdict.

  • “Running late” or “not running”. On a quiet site WP-Cron runs only when someone visits, so jobs wait. Ask your host to call wp-cron.php every 5 minutes, or set up a real cron job.
  • Tidelist Pro: queue address. In Tidelist Pro you can switch on a private address that runs the waiting jobs. Call it every 5 minutes from a server cron job or a free uptime service. Anyone who knows the address can start the waiting jobs, so keep it private.
  • “Some background jobs failed”. Open WooCommerce, Status, Scheduled Actions, Failed. The last error is shown in the box.

Reconnect notice

When the connection to OLX is lost, cannot be renewed or is about to run out, a red notice appears in the WordPress admin with a Reconnect link. Until you reconnect, adverts are not taken down or updated. Tidelist Pro also sends this in its e-mail alert.

An advert has an error

  • “Not mapped”. The product has no OLX category. See Category mapping.
  • “A required OLX field has no value”. See Attribute mapping.
  • Title or description length. OLX wants titles of 16 to 150 characters and descriptions of 80 to 9,000. Edit the product text or the templates in Settings.
  • A web address, e-mail or phone number was removed. OLX does not allow them in advert text. Put the phone number in the contact field in Settings.

Photos

  • .webp photos. OLX does not accept .webp. Tidelist makes JPG copies. A copy that cannot be made must be unticked, and OLX can only download the copies once the plugin runs on the live site.
  • Photos missing for a variation. The product photos are used, and the preview warns you that they may show other options.

Status problems

  • Limited or waiting for payment. OLX applies limits per category and account. Tidelist never buys anything; check your OLX account.
  • Connection expired. Reconnect on the Connect screen. OLX refresh tokens last about a month and renew on use.
  • OLX asked to slow down. Tidelist waits and tries later. Do not run several batches at once.

Still stuck?

Write to [email protected] with the relevant lines of the log. Remove nothing secret: the log never contains secrets.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I look first when something does not work?

Open Tidelist log. It lists every call to OLX with the result, and every request that was blocked or simulated, with the reason.

What does "waiting for payment" mean?

OLX needs a package or a payment for that advert, for example because the free limit of your account is used. Tidelist never pays. Buy what you need on OLX, then check the status again.

  • Safety, dry-run and pause

How Tidelist protects your OLX account: dry-run on by default, a pause switch, typed confirmation, a request allow-list and encrypted credentials.

  • Preview and publish adverts

Check the exact data that would be sent, choose photos, select products and publish a batch of up to 30 adverts by typing PUBLISH. Cancel a running batch.
